DHGate a scam? Ultimate Chinese wholesaler? A Little Bit of both, perhaps
Some years ago I had the business of online eBay and of course my primary market has been selected for the sale and trade is gone. I wanted to create a profitable business for the giant of online auctions, and hopefully some of the 2 billion + market in the dollar tree. Yes, like when a person starts a business to eBay, their first desire is reliable wholesale suppliers, whose prices are within a reasonable margin, right? Well, that was my case anyways. Yes, I started to lookon-line suppliers of iPods. digital cameras, computers, and especially high-end consumer electronics. I think this is where most of the market is correct? Correct.
The next logical reasoning was that the providers will be more competitive wholesale overseas. After all, most of the Fortune 500 rely on their work in third world countries, especially in the East. Yes, I finally found some great suppliers that handle payments on-line and also be used to deposit-likeservices (after losing a lot of money to send secure payments via money transfer company, and to see my post about other ways to avoid it). There is one especially that I want to speak DHGate. Dhgate is a sort of Chinese version of eBay, well, a sort of anyways. This is a site that hosts the suppliers in a market environment, almost identical to that of eBay, with two notable exceptions: we are talking about wholesale products and a market that encouragesnegotiation rather than auction. The site works like this: You can browse the vendors and get information about a vendor that sells digital cameras. Desired, and mail to the seller and haggle down a couple of dollars and reach agreement on a prize. Now you pay DHGate amount involved, either through PayPal or credit card. Dhgate hold funds in escrow until you receive the product and sign on the trade date.
It 'all very safe, mostly. There are a few sellers who do not deposit payments through DHgate accepted and will try to force you to send the payment by a method not insured, such as weather, bank or service direct transfer of money. Can not do it because you lose your money. There is no doubt.
There is a big problem with the website, however. Most of the points is FALSE, especially when it comes to clothes. The electronics are a bit 'different. TheMost of them are false, are just knock-offs, but were not the original company logo in any advertising, which is good. And remember that when you import counterfeit clothing from abroad, customs pick up on it. Maybe not immediately, but eventually they will catch and remove objects or if they wish, charge fees in association with the production company. Yes, I speak from experience, but fortunately in my situation, I couldto sweet-talk my way of any serious problems ….
Well, bottomline, Dhgate is great, but very careful when you use it, and make sure that the provider repeated the question, whether the items were knock-offs of the originals. In the consumer electronics market, if the price seems to good to be true …. thoroughly.
Be sure to look out for my next article on OEM products, and why you should also be careful when you buy them.
